Why? Delete button for Recordings in progress
« on: September 05, 2018, 03:18:53 pm »

v24.0.50 - Changed: Delete button is available again in Theater View on TV recordings that are still being recorded. This is a reversal of a change made in build 34.

Why is a delete button needed for a recording in progress? What is the purpose? What's supposed to happens when you click it? Didn't we find out that trying to delete a recording in progress from a client causes strange things to happen, like tuners locking up etc.

I always use this feature.  I'm recording a football game.  I tell it to record like 60 minutes past the end in case there's overtime.

But then the game ends and I just want to delete the file.  It stops the recording and deletes, so it's pretty slick!

This might work when doing it on the Server, but try it on a Client and strange things are (were) bound to happen...

Yeah, it has never worked from a client as far as I know.  Typically, it looks like it goes away, but it comes back.  At least last time I tried it.  I got used to just waiting.

For deletions to work, you would need to have authentication set up on the server.

I've already reported that concern to Yaobing. Hopefully, that will mean some functionality around handling the Client issues.

The simple "Stop then Delete" solution isn't enough when a Client is involved.

And on a similar note I was not able to cancel a recording from a client to free up and use the Colossus to watch another channel.  This should also be changed.
The client is authenticated with a username/pwd.

Delete button is also needed!.
thx
