Update: Residual APPDATA folders from JR
« on: January 11, 2020, 02:22:56 pm »

Doing some maintenance on our systems today. Discovered that previous version installs of JR MC have left rather large (1.7GB or so) data structures in APPDATA Roaming. So a couple of questions:
1. I assume it's ok to delete these for earlier unused versions. Correct?
2. Why doesn't the uninstall process remove these?
Thanks

Update:

Since they could be restored from backup, I went ahead and deleted the previous version library (I presume) structures with no ill effect as far as I can tell.

Still, it would seem helpful to have some type of notice that they were being left on the drive.

I also just noticed that after upgrading to JR 26 that JR 25 is still installed:

I want to uninstall JR 25 under Windows 10 "Apps & Features".

1. Which uninstall options should I select when I only want to remove JR 25 program?

1a. Is "Remove all Media Center registry entries" JR 25 specific and does JR 26 has it's own?
If yes, I should select it.

1b. Is "Remove Media Center library files" JR 25 specific and does JR 26 has it's own?
There are 2 program folders (JR 25 + JR 26) - so which library files are meant?

2. I also see I still have JR 24 and JR 25 APPDATA folders.

Should I delete them manually? At least JR 24 I think. Will this JR 25 folder deleted during one of the selected options above?.
I think manual deletion is required for both because these are "user specific" folders.

More usefull "uninstall, update, upgrade" information would be useful - inside the uninstall window (e.g. "Don't forget to tell people who have used JR on this computer that they should delete there APPDATA folder of this JR version ...")
I know - MS should not make it read-only and should offer a clean-up program so users could clean-up their APPDATA folder, etc.

I know I can uninstall the older version. ;D

But which uninstall options should I select? See 1a + 1b above.  ?

JR 26 should work (as now) after JR 25 uninstall.
