From your log, you're getting an "Access Denied" error when accessing the disk. MC can read the track list, but then fails when it tries to read the subchannel data.
This probably means you have some other application locking the disk - try disabling the antivirus and close or uninstall other apps that might be accessing the drive. You can also try running MC as Administrator.
I hope what follows is understood as constructive critique:
For further debugging, MC team could clarify what is the exact operation that is failing (cmd=0x42), even though they are usually unwilling to pursue these cases and a bit too quick (in my opinion) to just dismiss them as user error or antivirus woes, or just assign the blame to some other app. While that's true in some cases, it should not be the universal go-to response.
It's true that many issues are caused by windows/antivirus/others, but it can also be said in that case that MC doesn't play nice with others. Perhaps some effort could be made to improve MC's compatibility/niceness, but I don't see any willingness to do that. If MC doesn't play nice when X is installed, the solution is always to uninstall X, no effort is made into finding a way to coexist, or at least to determine if the root cause is something that MC might be doing wrong. There's only 1 download of your log file (at the time of writing), and that was me. Granted, not much time has passed yet, but Jim has already responded so it's likely no one else from JRiver will.
For instance, is MC requesting exclusive access to the drive? It's not really required for ripping and would result in this Access Denied error when other apps are also accessing the drive. Finding and fixing these issues (when possible) has value, in that it improves the product and the user's satisfaction level. Bad support in turn leads to bad publicity and fewer sales. It's obviously not possible to investigate each and every issue, but the pattern on these forums is to just dismiss any and all issues where the cause seems to be external to MC, even though there's a chance that MC could be improved to handle the underlying issue.
