Downloaded 133 and installed last evening.  During installation I was asked to download Real Audio components, I attempted to cancel this and was greeted with 4-5 dialog boxes of errors so I installed Real at that point.  When I rebooted the computer, my clock had been reset to the year 2009 which caused MC9 to totally freak out.  At first I didn't realize what had happened and so I registered the product (nice easter egg if that was planned).  The registration would not work due to the date being to far into the future.  Once I set the calendar back, everything was cool.  Still not sure why MC9 needed me to have Real stuff loaded but that is a different issue.

As posted in another message, had issues with trying to Audio Analyze 1700 tracks.  Problem continues.  Even when I select a subset, it will begin analyzing then part way through the list it will begin to show errors and fail.  If I quit MC9 and go back in, I can analyze the failed tracks just fine.  It literally took me 5 hours to finally analyze all the tracks after having to reduce the batch size each time I tried.

Not sure how you are defining the areas on the screen so forgive me if I have the wrong terminology.  I have been importing and modifying tags and after bouncing back and forth between the file picker on the left side of the screen and the detailed tag window on the right, the large window in the middle ceases to update.  I can click on different songs or artists and the middle window will not update.  I have to quit MC9 and go back into the program and then it will work (for a while).  This behavior has happened when adding files to playlists, updating tags, and ripping CDs all with the same result.  It is usually if I have stopped for a moment (reading e-mail or some other Mickey Mouse task).

Since this is the first build I have had experience with, I am not sure whether these are known anomolies or something new.  I attempted to find a detailed list of known issues or bugs to validate against before posting but could not find one. Let me know if this is not the appropriate place to provide notes/details.

Not sure if this is a bug or a feature!

When ripping a CD where the info is not available on YADB MC displays a dialogue for track submission. When dialogue is filled out the info is then submitted but the track data is not associated with the CD to be ripped, which means entering it again.

If this is correct it will surely put users off submitting.

Or, maybe I'm using it incorrectly.

When I try to use the "Cover Art > Add From File" option, there is no scroll bar in the "Select Image File" dialog.

Noted 2 video playback bugs.
1. When selecting video from my computer selected video does not play. Previously played video plays. File plays properly when double clicked from source outside MC.
2. When right click on play/pause when in full screen video restarts.Play/pause works properly in normal size.

In response to mindracings bug report I noticed this.  However it is not that the data is not there...it does not immediately associate with the CD which it should, but if you then click update from CD database the data appears.  Once data has been entered and submitted I would have thought it should be automatically assigned to the CD in question...

BUG/REQUEST
  • Chose - update properties from file info - I thought I'd selected like 30 tracks but then when I clicked on ok it started updating X of 9112 files. This was obviously a mistake but I suddenly realised there's no cancel button and if I crash MJ to stop it doing it I wont be able to click 'Undo' and so I'll mess up my library. There needs to be a 'Cancel and Undo Changes' button when updating properties so that half way through we can cancel the operation and it'll go back to how it was before we made the mistake.

Clicked 'Undo' and it started restoring my library but then crashed at track 132. Had to kill MJ to get anything to happen. My whole library is now messed up tag wise and all the tags have been saved into the mp3's meaning they're all tagged wrong now.
I'm going to have to re-tag 10,000 songs.

REQUEST
  • If MJ is going to make changes to more than say 50 songs it should ask for confirmation before making the changes and should state how many songs it is about to change.

Any changes will get saved eventually -- on exit if nothing else.

May be. Anyway there is a strange behaviour, try the following

-select a few tracks including the current track "stopped" in playing now
-do some tag modifications
-apply it

All seems ok but:

select others tracks, do some modifications, apply it

then you will get a warning about the track "stopped": failed to update

REQUEST
  • 'Fill Properties From Filename' - can this have a checkbox on it that says: 'Also clean properties' or something so that we dont have to do it as two seperate options as we do now. If the box is checked it should automatically bring up the clean properties box after we click on ok, let us set the options we want in it, then click on ok again to have both operations performed.
  • Allow us to specify which words are or aren't Title cased when doing a 'clean properties' task - right now it's not doing some words and I'd want them all done. I know other users would want it to ignore certain words.
(maybe give an 'advanced' screen in the clean properties options dialog).

Sticky top of right click menu works AMAZINGLY and is a pure stroke of genious (some functions aren't sticking properly all the time).

I second that. 'Title cased' rules apply only to english tags, not to foreign tags.

BUGS
  • Trying to cut something from artist or name doesn't work
  • Edit the name field, go to the artist field and then edit it, then as soon as you click back in the name field again it automatically reverts it to what it was originally.
  • It's claiming my m2v files are audio - they're all video's.
  • Cant seem to see any option when viewing a video file full screen to allow me to play it: original size, 1/2 original size, 2x orig. size etc (ie resize it still in fullscreen mode)

Good Build you guys!!!!

My mpg. (videos) are now playing continuously.
I've been stuck on 9.1.116 because of this, and I've been anxious to get current.

I have "one" bug to report and "one" request:

The toolbar Icons at the top do not show text "beside"
the icons.   This is with the "selective text on right" option set under Customize Menu Bar.

It would also be nice if the tool bar "icon" size could be set.  Small or Large (for us blind users)

Great job....!!!!!   ;D

Track details are not displayed in 'Playing Now' (see screen shot).

Cover art is not displayed in 'Playing Now' even when it's present in the 'images' directory.

Addition:

- (133) APE & APL files are now linked in the file associations when choosing to import media files. Although not strictly a bug, it becomes a problem since people using APLs usually do not want to import the APEs they are based on. If they remain linked via the checkbox, can the text edit field allow the user to delete the "APE;" selection?

Skinned scrollbar in the Options dialog (the one that lets you scroll the icons on the left with the categories).

When I scroll it flickers between skinned style and my normal XP-themed scrollbar.

The other various scrollbars work OK.

Media Server Authentication now works again (thanks guys).

However (Sorry) - I can no longer access my picture collection through the Media Server.  Everything else works - just not the pictures.

It was working a couple of builds ago.

Any ideas ?

Thanks,

Bugs:

TB1)  The icon on the first window during installation is
        still Media Jukebox
TB2)  The icon on the Media Center folder, after
installation is done, is still Media Jukebox
TB3)  WAV files encoded at less than 88kbs do not play
and give a pop-up error of "Please select file(s) to
        play."
TB4)  I can't seem to find it, so I don't know if this is a
bug, but if you close an internal vizualization,
there doesn't seem to be a way of re-opening it.
If there is a solution to this, would someone
        please let me know.

Thanks,

I don't usually burn CDs so can't say if this issue is just this build.

I attempted to burn 1 track (55% of the CD), MP3 decoding straight to CD, and it continues to write - never finishes.

Additionally, would it be possible to select many tracks for burning and have MC calculate and split across the required number of CDs? As it is currently I have to take a best guess and then delete from list if it is too many.

This is probably not unique to build 133, but I noticed today that if MC9 cannot play a file in its entirety because it is corrupt, it is not marked as "played" in the database.  That is, the "Last Played" and "Number Plays" fields are not updated.

This has the unfortunate effect of slowly moving all corrupt files to the start of my playlist, since I sort by "Last Played".

Just noticed this last night.

Video playback is all messed up. MC will play one file, then when it hits the next one, it just says "Waiting". If I double click on that file in Playing Now, it plays fine. Double click another one, and nothing. Double click it again and it plays. It's like every other track change causes MC to freeze.

I do have WMP9 and Quicktime 6 installed if that helps.

Doof,
I don't see a problem.  Can you start a new thread and provide more details about what you're playing?  File types?

Clicking MC's taskbar button to minimize MC does nothing.  Not the tray icon, the actual button that says "MEDIA CENTER".  It still maximizes and brings the program to the front, but if you click it again to minimize the program, it doesn't work.

Found a bug in build 129, after looking the bug-fix-list of later builds I post it here since I think it#s still unfixed:

When clearing database, I'm asked if i want to keep my view-shemes or revert them to default. Although I select yes to keep them, they get deleted  >:(!!!

Hope you fix it!
Thanks
Raist

P.S. another thing: how about the possibility to display one volume name as a separate column? Is this possible now or still only with full filename?

Anyone else experiencing 99% CPU utilization and system instability after installing this build? I am, under Windows XP...MC and my computer become unusable during any type of playback. I've experimented with different types of "Playback" options, to no avail.
