Question regarding HDR
« on: May 23, 2022, 11:27:19 pm »

Hi, I'm trying to get the best possible way to get HDR on my TV, I tried different programs beside JRiver, the only ones that give me better colors to my eyes are windows media player and JRiver, with Kodi I got good results if I choose to adjust display refresh rate.

The rest of programs I've tried (PowerDVD 22, VLC) give me really dark colors in dark scenes, even if I right click and cast to device to my TV.

So back to the topic, with JRiver as I said before, I got good "darkness" in darker scenes but I feel that I'm only getting very low color depth, so I would like to know if there's a way, or how should I configure JRiver for better coloration in HDR, and if possible without affecting non HDR videos.

In windows I have HDR set to enabled but if I set my refresh rate to 60 Hz I only got 8 bit with dithering, if I select 30 Hz or 24 Hz then I got 12 bit.

In Color format I got RGB so I'm not sure if this also affects the HDR content.

There is an HDR thread on the forum.

It's mentioned in the JRVR thread as well.
