thats about 30 builds ago maybe you should thing about

Upgrading To Build 9.0.113

I think there was a problem that was fixed realted to your problem.

I do not think you can recover your playlists if you did not back them up.

It may have made a backup automatically in:

C:\Program Files\Media Jukebox\Data\Upgrade Backups

And King is right.  Better upgrade, because that's quite an old beta.

Thanks.

Matt... there you actually said something! What about an automatic backup for the library? That would be great.... a haven't seen one (then again, I haven't looked that hard :)

Thanks for the responses;
It looks like my media library listing and all playlists were gone for good. I managed to find my playlists (about 20) in a backup ("Export" I guess you call it) but all of them were empty when I replaced them (m3u files) for the new ones that Media Center created upon the forced "upgrade the library".
Also found the 4 ".jmd" files which appear to be the database files.
I am backing these up regularly but I agree with Marty that there should be an easy backup library and playlist option with choice of location.
Admin ?
My biggest question is why the program "forced" me to upgrade my library without saving a backup ?
Has this feature been removed from later builds or am I going to get this message again.
Dan :(

PS - I put my many "CD mp3 files" manually in the library in the effort to have all my music at least listed together. I need to know if they are reliable and safe !!

and playlist option with choice of location.

You can pick the location and choice of playlist format with Export Playlists command. It doesn't have to go in the default location that MC specifies. You can create a folder just for playlists and back them up there. This is one option I use.

This is the one I use most often. I create an m3u and shove it right in the folder for each album. It then can be imported back into MC even when I clear the library. The only way they get axed then is if I delete the entire folder or the playlist itself. It saves many headaches when done like this. You can also switch between MC and MJ and the playlists are always available.

Should clarify: You can keep a folder of playlists in your main directory along with the music files. You can then import the entire directory and custom made playlists will be imported along with the files.
