MC32 does not import mkv files
« on: April 01, 2024, 04:13:41 am »

I am using MC32 32.0.26 I have set the checkmark for mkv files in 'import these file types' (see attachment) for the import folder. I have also set JRiver as the default player for mkv in Windows 11 23H2.
JRiver still stubbornly refuses to import my mkv files? Is this a known issue?

Uncheck this option on the Configure Auto-Import settings: "ignore files previously removed from library".

Thanks @zybex. I keep that option unchecked all the time

EDIT and SOLUTION: The files got imported all along. They are Dolby Atmos audio streams in a mkv container. I looked for them under audio. However I finally found them under video. Obviously (easy to say after the fact) MC puts them under video because of the mkv extension.

Technically, audio-only MKV files should be called .mka (Matroska Audio), if you ever want to avoid that problem. But you can also just change their type after importing.
Files that can fill a double role of audio or video are problematic for automatic classification like that.
