Last Beta release where YADB lookup works?
« on: January 24, 2003, 03:54:27 am »

After getting a WiPod for Christmas and ditching MMJB (with no regrets) based on recommendations in the 'Lounge, I started with MC9 version 9.0.88 to start to rip my cd collection.  I subsequently went to .98, then last night to .101 (not .102 because I'm not having any license issues yet.)

YADB lookup has not worked in .98 and .101.  I still have the executable/installation file for .88.  Should I go back to that version.  At this point my main concern is ripping and tagging my CDs.  I'll worry about iPodlugin bugs later.

TIA for any advice.

P.S. This board and iPod Lounge has been invaluable to my MP3 listening experience.  Thanx a ton to all who have reported bugs and especially to SteveG and Jim for cranking out fix after fix.

There is a test for whether you can get a connection to yaddb.

Try a search here for "telnet" and user named "gateley" and follow the instructions he gives there.

Thanks Jim.  I printed those instructions and will try it when I get home.  I'm a networking guy, so I know all about traceroutes and such.

BTW, track lookup did not work, but if I manually typed in the artist and album name, MC9 did find the cover artwork.  Don't know if that comes from YADB or elsewhere.

Bottom line question:  Does track lookup work in version .101 and was YADB down when I tried?  Still being new to all this, I don't have a good feel for how reliable YADB is.

Hi, Track lookup works in 101.Theres a good chance YADB was down when you tried. I did a lot of work on it recently, so it was down for short periods on occasion.

There's still something fishy with YADB: I works for me when ripping a CD, but I can't get it to work by via Options - 'Download from YADB'

Hi Eiffel, can you be more specific? "Download from YADB" doesn't sound familiar to me. The text for looking up a CD says "Update from YADB", is that what you meant?
