out of all of them i liked 'Rock The Casbah'.

Combat Rock...IMO their best album

Ghetto Defendant, Atom Tan, & Sean Flynn were very cool and very unpunkish (almost avante garde).

I am really sorry to hear that. I saw them quite a few times live, they played the old Palladium in NYC the first time I saw them and they were fantastic. They were really a GREAT band. I was just listening to "Give em' enough rope" yesterday :-(

with friends we organized the first Clash tour in France..Well two concerts Rouen and Paris.
We had a very good contact with the band and Joe.
Later when in London i meet them in the street in Portobello.
They reconized me and i have a great funky time with them.
From this time ,i was on the Clash guest list for all they concerts in UK and France.
Once they gave a full week concert in Paris with The Beat and they had artists from New York painting 'graffitis during all the show.
All of it lasted few hours,a very great show.
One evening i did not feel well.To much alcool ,to little sleep when you are doing hard work in the day, for too many nights/days.
The place was crowded every night and the heat was allmost unbearable
I just collapsed and woke up backstage with the Clash doctor near me.Nothing serious ,just drink a lot of water ,no more  alcool and drugs this evening please.
Joe saw me and stopped by me for quite a few minutes.
He told me :stay backstage, look at the show from there and asked for a pass for me.
After the concert i spend a long time with them in they room ,still not that in great condition and Joe asked for someone calling a taxi for me.
Being at home a spent most of the night drinking liters and liters of water and tearing of the hairs on my legs with my fingers.
Side effect of some white powder you sniff.And the last time ever i took it in my life-beside this i may had it no more than 10 times in all my life,the down side is really not worst the up one-

The last time i saw Clash ,it was when the last poor album was out.
The concert was not better than the record.
I was very sad and  i walked the quite a few miles  back home instead of taking a cab ,just the time to deal with the fact that a very funky part of my life was now behind me.

One month ago a very good friend of me -i would say more than a friend- died in Boston during an US tour.
He was the guitarist from the french band 'Les Dogs'.
I was with them even before they being a rock band.
I had a very strong and special bond with Domi and his girl.
The news hit me hard-i mean very hard- To the point than if in France ,i would have go inside a church for his funeral- for me it says a lot-
2 weeks ago a friend from the 60's also died.
Now Joe Strummer.

That is an excellent story and I know you feel terrible, at least you have some pleasant memories even though I know it doesn't help. I remember that last album, it really was bad, it was only Strummer and Simonon and some very poor musicians. I don't know what Joe what thinking when he put that lousy bunch together.
