Video formats
« on: December 20, 2003, 05:23:25 pm »

Hi all,
Apologies for this, it has probably been done to death but I can't find the answer.

I have some music videos that in Real Audio (.ram) and .mpg. Import won't find them at all and when I open them I get,

"Media Center can not display visualizations for this filetype.  Visualizations are only available for internally supported filetypes. (mp3, ogg, wav, ape, etc.)"

The help files seem to indicate that these are additional supported files.

Any help please..

Regards.

I'll second Monty's request. On my system(W98SE):

MC 9.1316 will recognise Real Player 8 (obsolete) but not RealOne V2.(Current)

Real player 8 will not play some swf files (On its own or from within MC) - probably because there is no RP8 Macromedia plugin available on Real's site. (AFAIK)

RealOne V2 will play these files with Real's Macromedia plugin.

Quicktime will play them perfectly and thus so will IE6

Is the fault with me or MC?

(For me, over the last many years, Real has always been a pain while QT has always been reliable and unobtrusive!)

Real started messing with us about a year ago, so RP8 is your best choice.  We could probably do something better with a more current Real version, but it's probably not going to happen.
