Importing New Files - hangs everytime
« on: August 16, 2004, 12:08:59 am »

When I try to do Import... I point it to the folder where my files are but it never gets past "Searching" and "Files found: 0"
I must kill the Media Jukebox process to exit as the 'Cancel' button does nothing. The process never uses any CPU either when it hangs.

anyone have a fix?

using latest MC10 build and WinXP Pro with all patches (except SP2)

Make sure there isn't a window hidden behind MC.

Also, try browsing to the same folders in MC's "My Computer" area to see if MC can analyze the files, or if there is some problem there.

Thanks.

Not sure what "My Computer" you mean...
I can navigate using File \ Open \ My Computer... that is just Windows Explorer
I can also navigate using File \ Quick Play \ My Computer \ etc

Once the Import "starts" you cannot move the MC window (come on JRiver... multi-threading has been out for years... use it, it is goodness!)

MC has a "My computer".  It's under Drives and Devices.

Jim,
OK, I found it... that works fine. Tools \ Import Media... still hangs.

Import directories, one at a time, until you find the directory that causes the problem.

If you can find a bad file, we'd like to see it.

Nothing works... I have tried several folders even different drives. There is a problem with the MC10 software, not my files.

Please see my first post for the description of the problem.

Has this never happened before? Did I find a new bug?

Yes, I also... uninstalled --> rebooted --> reinstalled

Never had a problem here.

Just out of curiosity, what file types do you have selected for import?  I once was trying to import some files that were not checked on the import dialog, but it didn't hang.  /shrug

I have many checked... they are definitely in there. I have tried images and music and video... it all acts the same.

MC10 does nothing, immediately. It just hangs... the process stops, 0 CPU usage.
