MJ and Linux
« on: November 01, 2002, 02:30:57 pm »

There is a cool Linux app called Wine which runs Windows Software. They have a compatibilty database here:

http://appdb.codeweavers.com/appbrowse.php?catId=14

This is the current list of compatible Audio Players. Wouldn't it be nice to have MJ on the list?

We know about Wine, but I don't think we've ever tested it.  I guess I'm generally skeptical of x-emulation on y-platform.

Any information Linux users have on this would be useful.

I think the true answer is a Linux port.  It isn't simple, but we're working on it.  Check back in about 2004.

The new Macs run Mach (OS X).  It's a variant of UNIX/Linux.  No problem.

Darn it Jim....I'm getting a little tired of correcting you :D

OS X 10.2 is known as Jaguar but they all use the Mach Unix kernel.

Xenno

We did test a version of wine, close to a year ago. No luck...
