From the BBC: Speak easy plan for media players. One for v12? :)

'MC'

'Yes, Dave?'

'Its been a long day at work today. Just play me something soothing whilst I fix a drink'

'Im sorry, Dave - I cant do that'

What, you mean MC refusing my commands? :)

Interesting. Knowing nothing about the state of the art in voice recognition, I suspect it will be some time before I can ask MC to suprise me with something I havent heard recently. But there are obvious potential benefits for car use, accessibility etc in being able to navigate MC by speaking artist names etc.

Party mode would be cool if your guests could simply tell MC what to play. But dont these things require training to recognise individual voices?

At the moment I suspect itd be of use to only a minority of the MC community though. Personally, Id prefer it if you focused your development efforts on making MC able to fix me a drink when I get home from work.

I think opera 8 (a very innovative company in terms of interface; they were the first to introduce tabbed browsing and mouse gestures) will have voice recognition.

Let wait and see if it is actually an useful feature for a browser. A music application like MC may benefit from most of the same features that could make this work for a browser.
