Re:Help of Portuguese linguists needed for translation!
« on: September 30, 2004, 08:12:54 am »

Hi
I was translating MC to portuguese and have some sentences that do not translate, such as:
- Encoding Type & Quality
- DVD Configuration
- a) Incompatible or corrupt Mpeg2 decoder software. Try installing different decoder software or reinstalling the DVD software that came with your system. This is the most common cause of DVD playback problems.
b) Low video memory. Please try using lower display resolution and/or colors.
c) Another application is currently using the necessary display resources. Please ensure that no such applications are running.
d) The display adapter is incompatible with the DVD decoder. Please try to obtain a display driver update.
- Text options:
- Start # HotKey underline - not translate #
- Exit # HotKey underline - not translate #
And others......
Can you translate these?

Tks

Don't you know how to translate or does MC11 not translate them?

You should know that the whole product is not translatable yet, just part of it. Some strings (especially those under Options) are not translatable yet. J River has to put some more effort to make the whole product translatable.

No, also in German we can only translate what is translatable, so the above mentioned strings have not been translated into German!

Chico

Entre outras.
Se você tiver alguma novidade, mantenha contato!

You can't alter the hotkeys.  Your solution is correct.

Jim

Tks.
Other questions:

Some texts can't be translated, like:
- "Encoding Type & Quality" (Options/Encoding).
It's happing because the special characters (& - hotkey simbol in text) was not translated?
- DVD Configuration
"a) Incompatible or corrupt Mpeg2 decoder software.
Please try to obtain a display driver update."
It's happing because MC use this special characters (")")?

Tks one more time! ::)

Other question:
Can't I translate texts like:
Import Resume:

Library now has 16957 files. Search and update took 0:36.
Imported 212 new files.

And others when the number of tracks, files, etc, was variable?  ?

Tks one more time!

Accessing disk YADB information.
Succes.
CD information successfully added to the database.

What's happing?  ?

Jim

Other messages also was no more translated in version 205, on the previos there was ok. Messages like:

Updating database
This operation has left empty folders on your hard disk.
Would you like them to be removed?
Accessing disk YADB information.
Succes.
CD information successfully added to the database.

I think that we have a problem with the message windows on the last version.

Can you help me?

But that was very strange, because before MC 11.0.205 those expressions work perfectly. This happens with version 205 and later.  ?

Hi
 ?
Unfortunately with the latest versions, some expressions and words that were previously translated don't work more.

Like:

Right-click menu from Drives & Devices:
Update from CDPlayer.ini
Update from CD Database
Submit to CD Database
and so much others!

What's happening? The application will be better but this function was worse.
Translating MC to other languages, we open the possibility to be buy by more users.

Can you see it for us?

hi

- Tipo & Qualidade Codificando
- opções do texto:
- underline do começo # do HotKey - para não traduzir #
- underline da saída # do HotKey - para não traduzir #
E outros......
Pode você traduzir estes?

Tks

I think you will find much of them translated here:

http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fyabb.jriver.com%2Finteract%2Findex.php%3Ftopic%3D23840.0&langpair=en%7Cpt&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools

It is possible to use this method to translate in the following way:
1. Ask it to translate to Portuguese
2. Ask it to translate that translated text back to English, to find out if it has made any misunderstandings
3. Then a native Portugese speaker need only look at the translations to see if they make good sense.

This is not a perfect system, but works to translate almost 100% of text correctly. I've used it successfully even with specialist topic literature. It should get many of those done for you, if not all.
