Missing Backups and Missing Field Names
« on: May 10, 2005, 09:43:22 am »

Must be gremlins in this one:

After installing 262 over 252 I've now got the following problem--

418 out of 980 new ripped songs have the "name" field blank. Minor problem I thought, I'll just go back to one of my daily backups and swear for only a few titles. Wrong--only the last three day backups are even there! The rest since early April are gone.

This is really a mess right now. Any ideas?

Did you try a reboot, reinstall?

It's not likely this is a program problem at this point.

Anything else you've done with the library?  Library tools functions?  Third party plug-ins?

Hi Jim,

Rebooted - no difference.
Reinstalled 262 - no difference.
Reinstalled (and currently with) 255 - no difference.

It's not likely this is a program problem at this point.

I've done nothing else with the library. I made a backup of the "bad" data, tried to restore from the 05/09 backup -- same missing name field in 418 files.

No third party plug-ins.

The only thing I can think of is cut and paste from file names (418 times) - ugh.

Jim,

Nothing like a problem to learn more about the program--

Losing the info was a pain. Figuring out how to use (and then using) fill properties from file names. The process was a breeze--thanks for the functionality.
