Play behaviour in Theater View?
« on: July 03, 2005, 05:06:16 am »

Hi!

Since I got my rf remote, I've enjoying watching video/dvds on my TV through Theater View.

A question though; When I select a single file and choose 'Play', all files in that particular view are added. Should it be like this or did I set an obscure setting that I can't find anymore? I woke up to a screaming japanese ghost in 'The Eye' last morning...quite unsettling, especially when you fall asleep to 'Finding Nemo' :/

Unfortunately this is by design. For example, even playing a single song from an album will replace Playing now with the entire album. I've never really understood this logic  :-\

I'd like to see this logic configurable just like the double click behaviour options for standard view.

Cheers,
Ray.

Ouch. This one will definitively go into requests for next version. Perhaps one could configure it (play all or the selected item) where you choose if the View Scheme should be displayed in Theater view?

Instead of selecting "play" select "select" for each track/file you want to play, this puts an "X" beside the selected tracks/files then just select "Play Selected".

This works for Audio, I haven't tried with video files, but can't see that it would be any different.

Or you could sekect "Add" to add them to playing now and then go to Playing now and "Play"

Although I do agree, if you slect play down at the file/track level it should only play what you have selected. Track at track level, album at album level.

Mhm... I find the solutions usable! But I have another question regarding adding files to Playing Now; how on earth do you clear the playing now in TW??

Yeah that would be something that is nice to see... or maybe something that clears everything except the currently playing track (so things dont just stop dead!)

You can do it (including leaving the currently playing file playing) via the MCC command:
MCC_CLEAR_PLAYING_NOW. Refer: http://www.jrmediacenter.com/DevZone/MCCommands.h

I mapped this command to a button on my remote. You could also make it a custom button on the Theater View main menu if you prefer.

Even though I was looking for a submenu or similar to Playing Now (simple solutions works for me), I actually might try that command...when I figure out how to use it.
Thanks for the tip!
