Media Center 11.1.40 Alpha
« on: October 24, 2005, 05:40:31 pm »

  • This is a very early alpha of 11.1.
  • There aren't a lot of new features in it yet.
  • It will work with the same MC11 license that 11.0 uses.
  • As always, use at your own risk, and don't make it your first download of MC.

As always, please post ONLY BUGS here -- anything requiring discussion should go in a new thread.  Posts may be deleted or moved.

Media Center 11.1 ALPHA is now available.  PRICES for MC11.0 and 11.1 are here: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=23311

The public release version of Media Center 11.0 is available here:
http://www.jrmediacenter.com/download.html (recommended for new users)

This latest build of MC11.1 ALPHA is here:
http://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/music/MediaCenter111040.exe

MC 11.1.40 (10/24/05)

1. Fixed: The search box would lose the focus when doing a search in some views.
2. Added: Upload Audible files through Audible plugin when connected to "Audible Ready" MTP portable devices.
3. Changed: Older Nomad handhelds use WMDM instead of a custom plugin. (provides more standard integration)
4. Fixed: French version of WinTV PVR 150 could not record.
5. Fixed: On-the-fly conversion wasn't working for TiVo and UPnP Server.
6. Changed: The UPnP Server can now specify a fixed TCP port to use.
7. Fixed: Delete wasn't working on some handhelds.

MC 11.1.39 (10/21/05)

1. Fixed: Ripping could write the wrong number of tracks to cdplayer.ini, losing the last track info.
2. Fixed: Player could crash when failing to create a playlist on an MTP device.
3. Changed: MC does a better job of working with WMDM players that have no PDT entry.
4. Fixed: Encoders were not always using on-the-fly compression when they should have been.

MC 11.1.38 (10/20/05)

1. NEW: Added new search modifier ~fill to support limiting a smartlist to the number of files needed to fill the default device. (NOTE: you can use ~fill=[...] with a device name to specify a device)
2. Changed: Improved handheld "convert if necessary" logic so players that support multiple formats will only convert files that are not any of those formats.
3. Fixed: Inserting an audio CD with no files on it would still attempt auto-playback.
4. Fixed: When creating a new playlist from the Send To menu, the action window list wouldn't show the new tracks right away.
5. Fixed: MC could show "Circular Reference" errors in cases where there was no circular reference.
6. NEW: Typing when a list control has the focus runs a silent quick search (Ctrl+Q) instead of searching just one column. (tap F3 to find subsequent matches)
7. Fixed: Some packages (MP3 encoder, etc.) would fail to install.

MC 11.1.37 (10/18/05)

1. Fixed: Playlists would not properly transfer to a handheld when certain options were set.
2. Fixed: Performing sync's with file conversion enabled on WMDM devices would resend the same files over and over.
3. Changed: Changed default convert option for handhelds and servers to "Convert (if necessary)." (instead of never converting)
4. Fixed: Library lists would not update as expected to reflect changes in the playing track.
5. Changed: Select All / Select None gives the list that responds the focus so future global commands (analyze audio, etc.) use tracks from this UI piece.

I am going to start testing the Ipod Sync again. Its been broken in the last versions I tested So I hade to switch to itunes. You responded to a post re iPod sync and asked me to test the latest version.

It reconized the iPod. (Last version I tested did not)
It started to sync. I did not want it to yet so I clicked the Cancel Sync Button.

It looked liked it accepted the cancel but then kept on with the sync. I found 3 places I could cancel the sync. ALL did NOT cancel the sync.

Since the default was all playlists it will take all night to complete so, I will test again tomorrow.

However, If you could fix the Cancel Sync buttons that would be nice.  Thanks

1) Attach ipod.
2) Click on Handheld Player in the action window in MC.
3) Click on the Check Sychronization link.
This gives message "this device is fully sychronized".

  So far so good...... now....

4) Play 2 songs in MC that were previously unrated and give them ratings.
5) Click on Handheld Player in the action window in MC.
6) Click on the Check Sychronization link.
This says "sync 4 files - 32.3 GB available"
7) Click the sync button.
This shows it deleting 2 files.
Then the progress bar shows 1of2 and 2of2.

No matter how many files you update, the display on the "check synchronization" is always double.

This is when selecting a playlist to sync, not "all files".

Transfer Audible files to ipod and it lets me transfer the file but shows up in the music section instead of under the audiobooks section.  I can navigate to the Audible file and it displays fine in the music section but will not play there.

Used Ipod Updater 2005-06-26 to update iPod to latest release.
Reformated iPod to Factory defaults
Connected iPod to iTunes.
Copied 1 File freom iTunes to iPod
Music reads / shows on iPod
Close iTunes
Open MC 11.1.40
Copy 3 files from MC to iPod
Shows fine
Close MC
Open iTunes
Error can not read iPod - tells me to reformat.

Go Back to MC works OK but still not compatable w/ iTunes & MC

Also  iTunes sees iPod as  SPB's iPod
MC shows it as Apple iPod

Thanks

In handheld synchronization choosing "None" as option for "Rearrange upload folders" does not work, it defaults to "Artist\Album" after doing a sync

On the Audio Tab, and with Audio selected from the tree view
1. Select something with the search box, in my case I typed Cardigans
2. Click on one or more of the tracks that has been filtered
3. Delete the text in the search box

The results remain the same, rather than returning back to non filtered.
Doing the samething under playing now does work.

Continuation of sync the iPod issues.

I told it to sync all my music to the iPod - 6000 songs
It also selected 10,000 photos
No way to cancel since Cancel does not work

When it got to the first photo it promted that he file type was not supported ( this iPod does not support Photsos So I would expect this.

It then went to the next photo Same prompt
Next Same promt

Each photo promting me to hit OK to continue

Please just show me this prompt ONCE and or Give me an OK ALL button or make teh cancel work

Thanks

I have a card reader for the memory card for my digital camera.
It's usually in the camera and not in the reader.
It's set up as drive R: on my computer.
When MC started, it asked me if I wanted to recognize drive R: as a device.  I answered NO.
Now, every time I start MC,  I get a device read error saying it cannot access drive R:
Can we get it to ignore the fact that the media isn't online?

Still no Songs on iPod
Reformated iPod to Factory defaults
Started again but could not find any where to allow or stop selection of Photos for iPod sync

In the Library browser, if you clic on an artist, the "Clear selection" option near "View: All media" doesn´t work.

MC still has a very serious issue in this newest release.  Skipping occors whenever ther the disk is being written to or intense reading.

I can connect to my Library Server from work.
It downloads and displays the library fine.
Double-click to play a song.
Get error message that it can't find the file.

The file path showing on the client side is:
mp01://ipaddress:port/f:\mp3\artist\album\songtitle.mp3

That looks correct.

The specific error is:
"Media Center encountered errors while trying to play the last several files.  Please make sure that the path in your media library points to the right location."
