YADB Working?
« on: June 12, 2006, 11:25:21 pm »

Getting nothing but 'failed to connect' errors.  The YADB web page is up, just can't seem to get Media Center to talk to it.

I had some problems connecting over the weekend.  It has seemed pretty flakey lately...

It would fail 5-6 times in a row and then connect fine once or twice.

I'm doing some work on it, so that may be part of the problem. If you'll note the time, please post here when you have problems so I can figure out what's happening.

Thanks,

I'll try.

This past time it was Friday night and I was a bit too inebriated to note the time (or year for that matter).  In fact, that one certainly could have been P.E.B.K.A.C. (though I don't know how I could really have messed that up, regardless of my state).  I also believe I had a connection issue on Sunday evening at right around 6:45pm EDT.  (If that helps.)

Had problems at the time I posted above.  Now it seems to be working fine.  Maybe just bad timing on my part (don't use it very often), but it seems that every time I've tried lately its been down - and I have to use EAC/freedb.  What about having freedb as a fallback when YADB isn't available?

It may have been inaccessible for you, but it hasn't been down.

It worked for me fine this morning when I threw in the other CD that we just bought - but it didn't work the other day (no changes on my end).

In this case, it was a CD that is not in the database that was causing the error - so if the service was up and 100% functional then it is possible that when the look up fails it is sometimes timing out or giving a bogus error message.  I just threw it in again, and comes back with the appropriate 'not found' dialog.
