I don't think Media Jukebox has anything to worry about with version 9 of WMP.  Many of the features will only work on Windows XP, and overall it looks (and acts) pretty much the same.

Thanks, Galley.  And thanks for talking about MJ on the news groups.

Anyone else on Windows Media Player 9?  Anything it has we should consider adding?

Something to consider what is in the new Windows Media player 9:

Auto scan for music files/playlists on specified directories.

I mean, whenever you add a new file or playlist to your folder, it will add it to the library as well. (not only during startup of the program but all the time)

Another thing maybe:

I don't think it is in WMP9 but it is in RealOne :

When your musicfile has no coverart, it will search for coverart on the web and show it in the track info template (not add it to the file)

Well, WMP9 is the "engine" for the new XP media OS thingy that SP1 has the hooks for.  IT will be an OEM product that will ship with "special" hardware from the usual suspects, supposed to change our lives by integrating our pictures, music, stereo, computer, web.  I hear version two will even boil the ocean...

Shh, that's a feature we just implemented.  We're not shipping it for obvious reasons.

I'm always happy to plug great software. I used to dog WMP so bad, that Zach asked me to "play nice", so I have stopped.  Anyway, even he (a Microsoft employee) recommends Media Jukebox! :-)

i try to be diplomatic about it.  some play with this some with that but all play with mjb.  :D  only when i need to use one for something like ? ?  remembering the old players. Ha ha ah aha  ah   i use the other ones..   and i use wmp for the online streaming and the midi that is posted on websites like i do mine.

got to add this....   don't make mjb look up cover art automaticly make it if the user wants it too.

cause i make my own music files and own art.  and i don't want it going out and getting some thing i don't like.

thanks

I saw that!  I even sent him a little thank you note.  He's got a great personal site for support of WMP and other odds and ends.

Anyway, thanks again.  It really helps.

Well, don't forget WMP9 is also designed to decode/encode the new WMA9 format, which looks quite good. But I guess a MJ plug-in will do that job too.
