Remote Controlling with MC
« on: June 07, 2007, 03:06:31 pm »

Matt et al,
Is there some info on how to use girder plugins (without girder) with MC?
I need to be able to at least do WOL and launch scripts and RC macros - can MC do that?
I want to drop Girder eventually...
Thanks!

I use Theater View exclusively with an IR remote.  I don't use Girder.  MC has remote control support built-in.  It even supports a lot of Girder plugins.

I believe you put them here:
C:\Program Files\J River\Media Center 12\Plugins

and then add them using the plug-in manager under MC/Tools.

That simple?
I'll take a look as soon as I get home..
I am a bit skeptical though.. Those plugins are.. hmm.. very girder specific.
Can you please give an example of a girder plugin which would work with MC?
Thanks!

No idea which ones will or won't work.  You'll need to try them.

Jim,
may I repeat the second part of my question?

--> I need to be able to at least do WOL and launch scripts and RC macros - can MC do that?

Thanks!

We support Girder input plugins for using different remotes with Media Center's remote system, but not command (or other) plugins for running scripts, etc.

That's what I found...
Will have to stick to girder for longer then.
Thanks!
