Strange MC and VISTA response with videos

Ok running the latest version... 12.0.279.  Using Vista Ultimate.

Everything seems to work fine with audio files.  However if I click on the video button on the top of the left pane blank thumb nails show up on the right.  I can play the files ok but I cannot access any menu options at the top or any right click options in the windows, like trying to change the view from thumb nail to detail.  Something else very strange, it also keeps me from being able to scroll in any window, not just in MC but in windows as well, can't scroll in firefox or explorer.  In MC if I click on audio at the top in the left window everything works correctly again.

Hope I explained this ok.  These are the same video files I used in XP with MC.

It takes some time to build the thumbnails.

What type of files?  MOV, MP4, etc.

MC12 uses DirectShow filters, and not all of these work right.  Try changing your settings in MC Tools/Options/Playback/Video/DirectShow.  Try using WMP to play.  You can do that in the same section of the options.

thanks for the reply... they are both wmv and avi(xvid n divx) files.  The thumbnails never show up no matter how long I let it sit.  In XP you would see each thumbnail come up as it was building them.  I am using ffdshow.  I have also disabled that and used wmv filter in MC.  It is strange I can't click on any menu options while on the video thumbnail screen, if I click to view audio only everything works fine and I can access the menus.  I have tried zoomplayer and WMP using the same filters and everything seems to work fine in those apps.

Well it seems to be working now.  I went ahead and installed the CCCP and now all is fine.  Not sure what is different though, still using ffdshow but it is just a different version.  I was using the same as I have always used, granted that was in XP and this being Vista.... who knows.
