Reporting Cover Art URLs
« on: April 13, 2008, 04:52:06 pm »

Whoever is reporting cover art URLS, STOP IT.

This is ONLY to report offensive cover art, not incorrect art.

If it continues, I'll switch to a mechanism that reports an e-mail address to me, along with the offensive URL, so that I can correct people that misuse this feature.

Wrong cover art might offend some users and not all users visit this forum regularly. In addition MJ12 has the same button and its download links are available all over the Internet. MJ12 users are less likely to be aware of this place.

In general all buttons inside MC/MJ are tempting. People usually like to push buttons.  :)

I think you should add usage instructions inside the tool. Perhaps tooltips.

I don't know how many reports you are getting daily, but I suppose you could create a browser that would show all reported images at the same time and allow you to easily delete the offensive images.

OK.  We'll change the button to "Report Dirty Pictures".

Wrong cover art might offend some users ...

Matt and I had this discussion, and he made the same point. I said "no way, everyone knows what we mean by
offensive". Was I wrong?

There have been 2 offensive cover arts, including the one that started this process. If you don't count the one time Matt clicked the button several times, just to show it off, there has been almost no abuse, maybe 1 a week. But today, I got about 8 or 10, all probably from the same person.

It just struck me: Perhaps the reporter today is not a native English speaker. Perhaps the button label is *not* clear in this case.
