Low Reception
« on: September 04, 2008, 05:48:34 pm »

I just setup a htpc and it is hooked up to a brand new over the air antenna.  On any TV in the house, channels come in great with minimal break up.  On MC, a scan for ATSC (only) revealed only 1 channel (and sub channels) out of our typical 10 or so that a TV would pick up on.  The channel that comes in works fine for about 10 seconds when I start playing it but then it gradually starts to break up more and more until it's unwatchable (after another 10 seconds).  The signal on this channel was reported as 65% on MC.  Our other channels show a signal strength of perhaps 30% on our other TVs, but they look fine.  Any ideas?  I am able to turn the antenna so I should try that.  Maybe I should try waiting longer on discovering channels?  Just trying to figure this out.  Hauppauge 1600.

The device you're using may not have a strong enough tuner.   65% isn't great.

What happens if you use its software?
