Unsupported media?
«
on:

I've used both Media Center and Jukebox and I've never had the problem of not being able to play MPG files. I'm running Media Center 12 on 2 computers (both Windows XP OS), one will play them and one will not. What's up? Were can I find the codec that I need?

I just realized that my program was not registered. I entered my code and got the restore complete page, but I got an error message from MC12 saying "Error restoring MP3 Encoder license: error unknown".
I'll run out of restores if I keep trying and am unsucessful.

That sounds like an MP3 encoder license, not an MC12 license.
In our wiki (link above), please see the purchase section for information on how to get the server to mail you your licenses.

I just realized that I had accidentally downloaded Media
JUKEBOX
12 instead or Media
CENTER
12.
My MPG's now play, but the audio is garbled. I have plenty of RAM and the same MPG files play fine on my other system.

Are you playing audio or video? MP3? Or MPG?

MPG video.
MP3 (audio only) is perfect.

Explore DirectShow filter settings. There is an entry on DirectShow in our Wiki (link above).
