Best playback engine for JRiver Media center?
« on: January 26, 2009, 05:45:36 pm »

Since years I am searching for the perfect hardware solution fitting to Media Center.

I want to listen to my music in any room. The music is located on one machine using Media Center as hardware. Accessing my music I prefer via remote as this seems the easiest way to handle.

I would like to be able to access the view schemes, as well as smartlists and in best case also the MC tags (so that I would even be able to edit or update them remotely).

So, what I recently found are the SONOS system and the logitech squeezebox. Both seem not to support UPnP in a way it is necessary to take advantake of the full MC comfort. I don't think it's sufficient to export playlists and then start using that systems. I ask for something dynamic. Static playlists quickly get out-dated. As my view schemes consider the last played date I want that to be reflected also in such an external hardware.

Are there some more recommendations out there what hardware is the best buy???

We are also searching for the same thing.  Let us know what you learn.

We would like to have a Big Brother in China ... or elsewhere.
