Missing playlists, phantom files
« on: May 13, 2009, 08:42:27 am »

I keep all music files in one directory (Music) and have several playlists. I deleted the library entries and when I re-scanned the Music directory, none of the files corresponding to the ones in the playlists showed up in the library. All other files loaded into the library ok. Naturally, the playlists are empty. If I rename the Music directory to any other name and reload the library from that, all files load, including the playlist files. However, the playlists are again empty, presumably because they point to the old directory. Somewhere the program had saved the playlist information and will not load those files into the library. This is version 12 but I am hesitant to upgrade since I may lose the playlists altogether. One other bit of information: if I try to manually load one of the missing files using the explorer context menu, Media Jukebox says the file has been updated but no files have been added, and it still does not show up in the library. Any thoughts?

Instead of deleting next time, a better way would be to clear your library under File/Library.

Auto import has an option called "Ignore files previously removed from library".  Uncheck it.

The "Ignore files previously removed from library" option is not checked. Somehow the program is keeping a list of previous playlists and refusing to import them into the library. I say "previous playlists" because even though I deleted a couple of playlists, the files they referenced will still not load into the library. To say it again: if I change the directory name from Music to anything else, the files all load. If I change it back to Music, the files that were referenced by playlists will not load into the library. I can do this over and over with the same results. Unfortunately, I cannot find out what was in the playlists because now they never show any entries. Curious, no?
