a while back there was an option to sync changes back to library.

That option seems to no longer exist, and I can't find a way to force changes made on a handheld to propagate back to the main library.

I would like changes to ratings, comments, name, album, etc that I make to my handheld library/media to populate back to the main library, and it just doesn't seem to be possible.

am I missing how to do it, or has that ability simply been removed (and if so, why)?

if it was removed, can you/anyone tell me when it was last available, so I can install that version?

I need to review/update/tag about 4000 tracks, and having to manually make those updates back to the main database is not something I'm going to enjoy.

It's a thumb drive, recognized as a handheld.  I actually have MC installed portable on the drive, but I use my main machine/library to sync the files to the empty space on the drive, then have the portable install "find" the music I loaded from teh main library, then play and tag it using the portable install (I can't install MC on my machine at work), then when I get home, I use my main machine to sync to the drive again, and it recognizes the files like "normal", but it won't write the changes made on the portable/thumb drive back to the main library.

it this only something that works with an iPod?  I used to use my iPod as my handheld, and changes made to it synced back to the main library, but it's been over a year since I synced the iPod.

It used to be an option in the handheld dialog "sync changes back to library" or something similar.

any help in making this happen is greatly appreciated.

I know it used to be possible, what version did this stop working, and how can a get a copy of the version prior?

Did you check the options for the device?  If it isn't there, it's not possible.

What do you mean "did I check?"

I've explained this in my original post, followed up, they you asked which device; I explained it thoroughly, and then had to keep asking for almost 2 weeks for that answer?

As I said, it used to be an option, can anyone tell me when it stopped being an option, so I can install that older version?
