Need Tech Support for Crash

I have been using MC for years and this has never happened.
The program crashed, and it crashes each time I try to start the program again.
Crashes when I try to reinstall.
Crashes when I try to uninstall.
I'm completely stuck.

I'm a paying MC14 customer who has also purchased a remote from j river.

Matt.  The crashed "reinstall" I referred to before was actually 151, so I already did what you suggested.
I just tried uninstalling MC14 in safe mode, crashed.

At this point, I don't mind reinstalling windows, because this is just my secondary, media computer.  All I need to get is my library, if no one can diagnose the problem here.

What's the easiest way to get my library database without opening the program?

I can't think what would cause this.  We're not hearing a lot of it.

If you could get a log showing the crash, we would have a chance at figuring it out:

I don't think it's a problem with MC14.  I think it's another program because this was a total failure of MC.  I'm not impressed with Win7 so I'm gonna reinstall XP now and the problem will go away.  Thanks!  See you on the other side.

The exception code c0000005 means an access violation, which is security related, but could be caused by a lot of things. I've seen it because of malware messing up file and registry ACL's. They can also "lock" areas of memory to prevent their removal and this can cause many issues. Do you have a virus scanner installed and up to date? AVG Free does not count as it doesn't have a spyware scanner (among other things) last I checked.

On the flip side, I've also seen that (rarely) with virus scanners themselves and they need to be TEMPORARILLY disabled to add/remove some software.

Finally if you disabled UAC and are not running with an Admin account you might see this. You would need to log on with and admin account. I would strongly caution against turning UAC off. I'm an expert security user and I wouldn't think of disabling it on mine. I've seen lots of "experts" telling everyone how to turn it off. Think of it this way, most malware is installed by security flaws in web browsers. At any time there are known flaws in ALL browsers. Malware can be designed to take advance of these flaws to "leave the browser" and do things directly to a computer. With UAC a prompt will show up letting you know some software is trying to write to the windows directory etc. Without it it will happily do whatever it wants to your computer. How likely is this? Many Malwares already do this routinely. Win 7 and Vista protect you from it.
