Analyze audio behavior

For a couple of versions now, I've noticed that when MC auto imports my MP3s, the BPM field isn't updated in the tag itself, just in the internal MC database. But if I highlight files and choose Library-Analyze Audio, the tag BPM is updated. Is this a bug or a feature?

Strictly MP3s, almost all of which I've encoded myself using LAME and ID3 tags that I've applied.
