Feature Request: MKV and Full HD 3D???
« on: August 17, 2011, 01:57:42 pm »

Any Chance for integrating Full HD 3D Playback with two .mkv Files?
Now that I have some Full HD 3D Files,it would be great to add this Playback Feature to MC.
The only Way until now->Using Stereoscopic Player.
Videos are Left/Right Encoded not Half SBS like the most Movies but with Half SBS -> Video Resolution falls to 720p or even lower when it's encoded for 1080p.
Adding two .mkv Files (Left One is with Video,Audio,Subs,... and Right One only Video).
This Player plays 2 mkv's at the same Time.
Video Settings: Anaglyph 3D (For Non 3D TV's),3D Standards (For 3D TV's),2D ->With many, many Settings) WITH the SAME File.
Needs a good HTPC:
CPU: Should be a Quad Core. ->Mine AMD 605e 45W TDP 4x 2.3GHz (When Playing ->60% CPU Usage)
GPU: ATI 5xxx - 6xxx for 3D.  ->Mine ATI HD5850
       Nvidia GTX 4xx  for 3D.
Player is using Direct Show Filters.
Works great.3D is Great, and even with Anaglyph 3D is good.
I know, this would be a lot of Work to do,but it is until now the only Way playing Full HD 3D with mkv. Videos.
PLEASE,would be nice if it could be integrated in time. ;D

PS:
Sorry for bad English Language. ;D

I don't think this will happen in the immediate future, but nice 3D support is definitely something we're interested in.

Seeing Avatar in 3D was mind blowing for me.  I'm trying to figure out how to get that in my home theater.

The polarize-every-other-line passive glasses displays are interesting, as are the 480 Hz LCD 3D projectors coming out.

It sounds like there are a lot of 3D goodies coming to CEDIA in a month.

Did you try out this Player,Matt?
For 3D it is the best Player i know until now. (For MKV 3D)
And comes from my Country->Austria (Yeahh!!) ;D
It's not usual that good Software comes from my Country.
It also uses MadVR and LAV Filters for Playback and others too.
Perhaps seeing this Feature in MC17 then?
What would be good for this Feature when pressing Play (In Theater View) a popup Window should appear (Only by this kind of Movies) and asking how to play the Movie (3D,Anaglyph 3D,2D).Something like setting three Playback Modes (By Options) which are able to choose then. The two Movie Files needs to be named correctly (_left/_right at the end of the Name?),that MC will see that this two Files stick together.Or creating a new Tag Field which can handle this.
The same Way as Stereoscopic Player can handle this Files.Files in Movie Folder are named with _Left and and _Right at the End.So you have to choose only the "_Left" one.The "_Right" One will be imported automatic.

If it would be a Deal for MC17,please keep it in mind! ;)

And I must Say Avatar 3D (BluRay) at home was better for me than in Cinema.Much Sharper 3D Effect.

I can only imagine how good it could be with both the audio and the 3D video specifically tuned for your exact seating position.  That would be quite awesome I think.

I have a 73" Mitsubishi DLP 3D TV, but no glasses, or interest right now; but if this were possible, I'd hope for support for my nVidia based TV, if possible, so I could give it a whirl :)

Any news on this?
I have MC 15. I'm consdering upgrading to 16, but lack of 3D support is what's hindering me.
