I have Media Center 17 installed on two pc's, both connected on my network (both Windows 7 64 bit).  I have Zune software installed on my Dell machine that acts as the file server for all my music. (Three file types in my Music directory: WMA, MP3 and flac.)   I do not have Zune installed on my Sony laptop through which I am trying to access the Zune subscription files (protected WMA) on the Dell through Media Center 17 via the network.  It seems like I was successful a time or two getting those WMA files to play on the Sony, but now I just get the error message that the DMR files cannot play. And, I can play Mp3 and flac files from the Dell directory successfully on the Sony without bringing them into the library. The Zune WMA files play just fine on the Dell with Media Center 17.  Any solutions that any one knows about to get those WMA files to play on networked pc's?

I don't know what Zune will allow, but try transferring a few files with Windows, then playing them with the Zune player.  That should authorize the Sony laptop.  After that, it might work.

Or test to see if you can even play the files with MC on the server.  Maybe you have.

Thanks.  I have tried playing the WMA subscription files on the Dell music server with Media Center 17 and it works great.  It is the second networked pc that is cranky.  I will try you suggestion and load the Zune software on the second pc.  (The reason I don't have Zune on that second Sony PC is that Zune wants to create a huge library on that second computer (essentially duplicating what is already on the Dell server)  But, I want to play my music with Media Center software (which also plays flac) and not Zune (which does not play flac.)

did you get this to work?  I assumed that DRM files would not play through MC 17 so I'm encouraged that you got part way.  My problem is that I play files to my Denon receiver (which of course can not have zune installed) - so I don't think I'll ever be able to play DRM files through that method.  Would be happy if I'm wrong.
