slow typing in search box
« on: March 25, 2013, 11:09:29 am »

When I type in the search box letters show up slowly one by one (along with a new set of suggestions for every letter I type).

I was hoping searches would be much faster in MC than itunes. But it does not appear that way.

Is this an alpha thing?

It shouldn't do anything until you stop typing for a little while.  Are you typing fast or hunt-and-peck typing?

How many tracks do you have in your library?  How fast is the computer?

Thanks.

I'm typing pretty fast. But maybe not fast enough?

I notice if I copy, then paste my search field it shows up right away.

So my guess it is interpreting my typing as being slow enough to start looking.
But I can't type any faster ;(

Library is large >100k tracks. Computer is 3.2 Ghz quad-core xeon, 12gb ram, os 10.7.5.
Running latest alpha version downloaded fresh today.

Edit: I just noticed there appears to be two searches. I was using the one in the upper right.
When I hit command-q (in an attempt to quit the program) this brings up a new search box at the
bottom of the window - this one works great ;) - except it seems to use "or" by default
where the one in the upper right seems to use "and" if two words are entered
