cant get rid of the popping

I have a computer connected to my home entertainment center usint the 'Line out' of my audio card.  all sounds contain a popping sound (wav, mp3, and radio music from real audio)  I have converted mp3s to a high quality but still hear it.  I have ripped from my own cd and its still there.  I need help, at least a direction to head to find help.

Check the wav level.  It may be set too low.  Double click on the speaker icon in the lower right corner of the Windows desktop.  Try muting other controls (microphone, etc).  Volume should also be set high on the PC.
