Last night, I was using MC Version 18. I was experimenting with one of the spectrum analyzer visualizations in the Display window. It causes the entire program to go unresponsive. Using Windows Task Manager, I determined that this function is using too much CPU and RAM. OK, fine, so I'll just turn it off, right? Think again! I can't get into the Visualization Studio because the program hangs up. "To access Visualization Studio, you must be displaying a visualization in the Playing Now Display Pane" (taken from J River Help Wiki).

So far, I've uninstalled version 18 and upgraded to 19 in hopes that this setting would not migrate, well it did. Aside from the fact that my music server is not particularly powerful, there's nothing wrong with my machine. I don't have any anti virus programs installed; its a purpose built music server (CAPS Carbon; Windows 8, Atom processor). I'm totally fine with the fact that my computer may not be able to handle this visualization, in fact, if I never see it again it will be too soon. I just need to know how to get it turned off.

I also followed the advise about disabling Plug Ins (I don't have any), using Standard View, and primary Library. The one thing I haven't done is uninstall version 19. I currently have no means of backing up my Library. Yes, I know this is foolish, but the fact remains. I shouldn't need to uninstall the program to get a feature turned off. I already uninstalled version 18 and installed 19 and the setting migrated, so I'm not the least bit convinced that it would work. Surely, there's got to be a way to turn the Spectrum Analyzer Visualization off, return to defaults, or enter Display Studio without initiating playback...

One possibility is that there's some glitch with MC's settings that's associated with the Library:

That could explain why an unistall, re / new install doesn't work.

You could try going back to a version of your library before you changed the visualisation.

Just keep track of what you work with so you don't lose your library data, i.e. backup, backup, backup ...

I know it refers to TV but who knows what good info this can provide to those in the know?

Try these.  Wait 30 seconds with each one.

Ctrl O (letter O, not zero) will take you to the options page.

Ctrl 1 to 5 change the view.

Make sure you're not getting MC18 and MC19 confused.
