There was a problem loading the library…
« on: March 02, 2014, 02:59:06 pm »

Itʼs rare that I use any of the Macs here for listening to music, but I wanted to tonight, and for some reason I was being given the “There was a problem loading the library…” prompt.

My options were:
  • Retry
  • Load the library “previously loaded library”
  • Load a different library

All of these options failed.

If I cancel this prompt, I received:
    Critical Error
Media Center failed to load any library. This is a critical error, and the program must stop running.
    Please re-install the latest version.

Updating to 19.0.119 did did allow me to load the “previously loaded library” which solved my problem.

However this is a terrible failure state.

I should be prompted to restore a library backup (I assume the OS X version makes them) or worst-case scenario, create a new library.
If updating to 119 had not fixed this, I would have been left unable to use Media Center at all.

Well, I figured out what it is that was causing one of the libraries to fail loading at least - it seems that I cannot have the Mac version start up as a client to my PC library - it always fails.
I have to load a local library and then switch over.

I still haven't figured out why the local library (basically empty) refused to load until I upgraded to 119 though.

You're not loading it as a DLNA library are you?

I don't think so? I used my access key and username/password to set up the library.

Possibly this:
1. Changed: Changed UDP socket Accept function to use 'select' rather than 'kqueue/kevent'.  Trying to eliminate application hang at shutdown.

It seems that under certain situations the use of kqueues prevented the library from being released until reboot.
