Hi,

I have just been through Schiit support but we couldn't resolve an upsampling issue.

The chain is as follows. CAPS style music server>Loki DAC>Preamp>Focal SM6

I've followed the guide at Schiit link> http://schiit.com/guides/dsd-setup

On both servers here, whilst standard pcm out works on my Perreaux DAC, I can't get a DSD stream out on either.

I see the equalizer rise and fall -yes and the scroll over the tools/media path which tells you > output 44.1KHz 24 bit 2ch using WASAPI (direct connection) after setting up following the guide.

I have since tried using the tools/DSP - ticking output format 44.1 in/176out and now I get output 176.4KHz 24 bit 2ch using WASAPI (direct connection) yet still the loki is not recognizing a DSD stream.

I will also add that I have set up Win7 playback devices>schiit audio device>properties>advanced>dropbox settings 24 bit/192 and ticked both boxes below, disabled all enhancements and set volume at 100. The device is enabled.

Help would be appreciated.

Gosh - I have no problems at all with the Schitt or iDSD Nano devices here, upsampling to DSD.

I don't have screen shots available, but essentially, you

• Choose the device (ASIO under Windows, Core Audio under MacOS)
• Adjust the settings for the device as necessary (buffer, exclusive open, etc.)
• Set the DSP output format to DSD64
• Set Bitstreaming to DSP
• Ensure the volume is turned all the way up.

At that point, it should be play, transcoding all your files to DSD64.

Oh I know it looks simple. So simple it took around a minute to set up following the guide  above.

But unfortunately, I can not get a confirmed DSD stream that the Loki can lock on to. On 2 boxes too...

Where are the JRiver experts. Or is jrmc19 the current flavour and all else is unsupported?

Oh my- that isn't good. You have tried changing USB cables and ports? 

Are you under Windows? If so, you probably will have to use the WASAPI "push" setting.

Yes. 2 computers then through a few cables and all the usb ports available.

No wasapi push available in mc18 but yes, I'm using wasapi.

Schiits has asked me to try a powered usb hub too but that I don't have. So I'll have to find somebody local who'll lend me one for a couple of hours.
I'm still unsure if mc18 is actually outputting DSD.

I did and still do expect better support from JRiver though. 2+ days and no help from them...

I found nothing related to my issue. Why else would I have asked JRiver for help?

Downloaded the trial of mc19 and it works immediately...

Yeah, I was going to ask if you had a reason for not upgrading to MC19.  It does work much better in both the Mac and Windows versions.
