Author Topic: How to set JRiver to play MP3 native sample rate/bitdepth with NO upsampling?  (Read 3926 times)

Hello,

I am using JRiver on a project to compare audio quality. I would like JRiver to play the native sample rate with NO up-sampling. For example, I have a very low quality MP3 with sample rate=8KHz, BitRate=8kbps. Can JRiver play it just as it is? and how to configure the JRiver to do so?

Thanks,

Heather

Welcome to the forum.

By default, that's how it will work.

If you're doing comparisons, zones might be useful.  You could start playback of two tracks, then toggle back and forth.  The wiki has information on zones.

Thanks for the quick response and information.

I use JRiver on computer with McIntosh D100 DAC via USB. The McIntosh displays sample rate and Bitdepth of the music it plays. When I play a MP3 with 8KHz sample rate, 8kbps, it displays 192 and 32 as sample rate and bitdepth.  Is it possible that JRiver is up-sampling it?

Thanks,

Heather

Take a look at your DSP settings and make sure nothing is active.

MC will play what you tell it to.  You can count on that.
