Delay of 30 - 45 sec when I first run MC 20
« on: November 13, 2014, 04:13:49 pm »

After I turn on my Windows 7 PC and run MC20 - when I add a song to playing now
the song takes about 30 - 45 seconds to start playing. This only happens when I turn
my PC on for the first time. After that it plays right away. Any ideas?

Is the file on a hard drive somewhere that needs to spin up?

Or a network volume?  Often network drivers are loaded on a delay.  On some of my machines, the network isn't fully up and functional for 30-45 seconds after boot.

Intel NICs seem to be faster.  The nice PCIe pro-class add-on ones anyway, but even most of mine with onboard Intel NICs are better than the old crappy Realtek NICs I used to try to use.

Unhook as many devices as you can.

Look for drives that MC checks that may not be there any longer.

If you ask Windows to check for a machine that doesn't exist, you'll get a delay like that.
