Un-register
« on: November 22, 2014, 07:40:47 pm »

I recently purchased JRiver. I wasn't sure of the exact number of computers the license was good for.
Turns out it looks like 2 computers max. I put it on 3 of my computers.

Now I'm in see-saw mode where each time I try to use one it asks if I want to deactivate the last one.  I
say yes, but it doesn't seem to do anything. When I go to the 3rd computer I extracts and looks like it
is reinstalling JRiver.

I then tried to uninstalled JRiver and re-intalled it. You guessed it.... I'm still registered on all three.

Can someone tell me how to de-register the offending computer?

TIA,
Jay

It's fine to be registered on 3 computers, as long as their all "yours."  That's the limit: all your computers.

Where did you get that idea?

You have a limited number of license restores per year, but these roll off after a year (and can be reset if needed).  As Matt stated, you can use your license on all of your personally owned machines.  If you own a very unusual number of machines for a regular person (where the limit of 10 restores per year would be problematic), or you're buying them for a business, then that's something else.  But, within reason, all of your regular, personal machines are fine.

If you're having trouble activating your license on a copy, explain what is happening better, and refer to this:

The registration FAQ states 2 machines. And that seems right since it keeps asking me to de-activate one of the machines.

Can anyone verify 10 max? Of course, I agree ten would be a lot, but why would I get it on a third?

Where are you seeing that?  The only limit is on "your" machines.

There's no official limit.

Stop the presses.  I might be  (probably) wrong.  The message might in fact be coming from another program.
A program that I didn't expect to be over on.  I will check this in more detail.

Thanks to all who weighed in.
