Failed to connect audio renderer to audio decoder
« on: July 15, 2015, 05:26:42 pm »

I see a few older posts on this error but nothing of late and don't think any of those pertain.  My settings are:

Audio:  WASAPI with bit streaming.  I have turned streaming off/on to no effect.
Red October HQ.  I have also tried Red October, no change.

I get this error when attempting to play DVD files.  But only some DVD files.  And I can take these DVD files and successfully play them on another install of MC, which has the same settings as near as I can tell.

It seems over 1/2 the DVD files will not play.

Any clues or suggestions would be much appreciated.  TIA

Did you try Red October Std and HQ?  Unmodified?

Any other video related software installed?

Yes and yes.  Tried both HQ and standard, I have never modified them.

I was suspect of screen capture software I had recently installed, but the fact that I had installed the same on the other machine and that only some of the DVDs won't play made me wonder how that could be impacting.

But I removed the software just the same to no avail.

Anything the discs have in common?  Sony?

Nope.  Does  not seem to be any rhyme or reason from that point.  First three I checked that won't play were from 3 different studios.  I am at a loss.

Try without Bitstreaming. When you use bitstreaming it bypasses JRiver "audio engine".

See http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Audio_Connection_Type

Yes, I had tried that to no avail.

Here is the odd thing.  I have all these movies replicated to another machine and they play fine on that machine.  So maybe somehow they got corrupted on this machine?  OK, so copy what works on the 2nd machine back to the first.  No luck.  Still won't run.  What if I try to run them on the first machine from the 2nd machine?  Just browse over the network and run it.  It runs.  Odd.  So I very well may have a PC issue here and nothing to do with JRiver.

But it only happens on some DVD movies.  A significant number of them.  Maybe 20%.  But not most.  And can't seem to see any common thread linking them together.
