How to list all artists of an album in the artist's view?
« on: December 27, 2014, 08:22:51 am »

I have tagged about 1000 albums, using a semicolon to separate the artists playing in a given album. JRiver presents them nicely as a list  in the Artists field.

My expectation was that I would find all those artists in the list of artists, meaning each album may be referenced as many times as there are artists in the field. Now I don't find any setting to define such a view. The Relational property in the dialog for defining views seems to apply only to user defined fields.

Did I just fantasy or  am I missing a bit of information? It would be so nice to have not only Jordi Savall in the Artists' list but also Montserrat Figueras, not only Charles Mingus but also Eric Dolphy!

I did this and created another view I called Individual Artists.  ALso have started one with every artist who plays on a song (takes a lot of time).

You have to make a new view and make an expression to show all.

Try this link and mess around with it.

In your first post in the thread you refer to, you write:

"To see all the artists in the Standard View, I created a library view which shows all artists who appear in my collection, even if they are only the secondary artist on one track.  Simple enough using the semi-colon between each artist in the file tag."

This is pretty much what I want to do. It is really quite simple, I am just not accustomed to that practice of using the field AlbumArtist instead of Artist to build the default Artist's list... I find this pretty confusing for newcomers. It works well for Ed Shiran, a bit less well for an Bill Evans Trio and not at all for a piano concerto.
