My Media Center did an automatic update to Media Center 20.0.131, and my ASIO output stopped working.

I use Windows 8 and have a Grace m920 USB Dac. System was working fine before upgrade. Driver is called XMOS USB Audio 2.0 ST 300D [ASIO].

I have my MC setup to output to DSD to the DAC, which I find has superior sound quality. But I can't even get it to play back normal ASIO output with output settings turned off.

I get pop-up message "Playback could not be started on the output ASIO using the format 44.1Khz 2ch".

What's the fix?

Try reinstalling MC.

Try reinstalling the driver.

Verify that MC audio is set up correctly.

Power everything off and back on.
