Ok, I now see the download count on the expanded view over on the right, still dont see artist/genre info over on the left side, oh well.

It does not seem to be pulling my avatar from my JRiver forum account?

You can now filter the user shared playlists shown in the Doctor Who view.  There's a window in the upper left of the view that allows entering artists and genres that you'd like to see in the results.  Just type something and press enter.  You can also exclude artists/genres by prefixing them with a dash/minus symbol '-'.

For example, if you like "indie" and "alternative" genres but also like a little Beatles music mixed in, but aren't crazy about songs labeled with "classic rock" or "electronic" genres, you could try this:

Doctor Who now has a user "Follow" feature where you can select to follow users whose playlists you like.  You can then filter the left-hand user list to your followed users if desired.  You can "Follow" or "Unfollow" a user by clicking on their username in the list and then clicking the Follow/Unfollow button in the header area.

How do you edit top artists, top genre?
These are auto-generated, being the top 10 most common entries in the playlists you have uploaded.

Just started uploading a few playlists and downloaded a few.  I have a few quick questions:

1 - it would be good to have a popularity or ranked list of downloaded playlists to see where to start

2 - any way to add a right click - send to Doctor Who?  Tired of dragging these all the way down to the bottom!  :)

3 - on downloaded files - can't sort by Buy column or by the column that shows 30 seconds - would be nice to easily see what songs aren't matching - I do see how you can sort by filename though....

4 - which leads me to matching - I have several songs in my library that didn't match up for some reason - anyway to determine why or can there be a way to manually link these with songs in the library?

I do see that there are several that have () and additional information - e.g. (live) and I have the studio version. I am wondering if there is a way to strip these out on your side so that the if the name matches it finds it - also  I downloaded one of my own playlists and it failed to find 1 song so not sure why that would happen.

5 - How do you rescan a list to see if it can find it? I tried deleting and redownloading but didn't seem to change (although it did bump up the number of downloads for the list)

6 - an option to remove the ones that don't match with one click?

7 - any chance to allow larger playlists than 400?

8 - if I have downloaded a list - it would be good to see who it came from if I wanted to go back to that user - any way to show this?

Anyway - I love this - I put in a request for this type of sharing on the MC 11 board in 2005... (broncodan)...

is it possible to use this feature (uploading and downloading playlists from other users) without having a subscription to the performer store?
Thanks

It is.  I think it's explained in the first post.  You'll just get 30 second samples of anything you don't have in your own library.

We're not quite ready for feature requests, but I'll answer a couple of the questions.

1.  Not available yet.

2.  Maybe another tab.

7.  More than 400 -- maybe.  How many do you need?

Thanks for your reply Jim. But what about the tracks i don't have and that are in a shared playlists (somebody's playlist)? Is it also 30 sec or the entire track is played?
As you can see i'm still a bit confused about this feature.
I also would like to know, as already asked in a preview post, if you have short term plans to provide a service like Medianet for the non US users (which represents 2/3 of your market...)
Thanks and have a nice day

If the track is in someone else's playlist and you don't have it, we try to find a 30 second sample to play.  If you are a subscriber to the Performer store in MC, you'll get the full track if it is available.

To use Performer, you just need a US zip code.

ok that's clearer now.
About ther Performer solution, do you really think people are using this service? And that this service can keep people no using streaming services (instead of JRiver)? The idea of doctor is good, as i already said that, but the streaming solutions offered here is far from what we can expect in terms of quality and attractivity. I tried to find informations about this Performer store: nothing in the wiki. I look in the internet and i find out a strange website, where nothing is clearly explained (http://performer-media-center.software.informer.com/). Then i understand i have to download the program (operation didn't work), but why? It should at least be integrated in JRiver!
Plus the quality of the tracks is very poor (128 Kbps in wma) when the concurrence offers 320 or higher.
I may have missed a few great things about this Perfomer media center, but as the streaming services are growing, JRiver should give a better answer to this.
So my question remains opened.
And i keep the pressure on you :)

It is integrated with MC.  It's not a separate download.

I was looking for a playlist of Christmas songs and noticed that Arindelle has had over 700 downloads of his playlists!  He's making everyone else look bad.  ;)

If anyone has any good Christmas playlists, please upload a couple.  Thanks.

Hi Jim,

I uploaded a few of my Xmas Playlists for you.  Hope you find something you like.

Some additional feedback on Dr. Who:

1 - bigger playlists - you asked how many I would want - I think 500 would be good.
2 - it seems like the program downloaded some 30 second clips of songs that I don't have - file location is noted as blank - so not sure where these are but I deleted them - although I do like the ability to listen to some of the clips I would prefer that these are streamed and not stored on my system somewhere.

Thanks again for the hard work the team puts into this program - I have recommended to many friends and been a supporter since it was media jukebox....

Thanks for the Xmas lists!

The 30 second tracks aren't downloaded, but they may show up in the library.  They probably shouldn't.  If you have a Performer subscription, full versions of most will play.  Explained in the first post.

Thanks for the kind words.

Hey, today I wanted to try the Doctor Who function.
But when I drag my playlist into the Doctor Who I get a HTTP 500 Error. And my playlists won't be listed/uploaded. Although when I try again to upload it it says "Playlist XXX already exist"
Any solution? I really want to use my playlists from my former Laptop on my new Computer :S

edit: works now, nevermind

I did not receive an email with the Confirmation Instructions. The Message Tracking Logs for incoming mails did not show any incoming email.

Today I had a Resend Confirmations Instructions entered, but again, I did not receive an email. I checked again the Message Tracking Logs of my Exchange Server.

Could someone advise me what possibly the problem could be?

Thanks,

Use New Topic in the upper right corner of the index page to start a thread, or reply to a similar thread.

We send the e-mail.  After that, it's up to the Internet.  It can often be found in your spam folder.  It comes from buy-button at jriver.

You could try a different e-mail address.  You can contact me directly if you need more help.  I'm jimh at jriver.

Good Morning, Jim;

I tried another email address. To no avail. Subsequently I had sent you an email to jimh at jriver. Did you receive that email? I'm asking, because I didn't receive a response email. Pls confirm.

Thank you,

I tried to log in but could not, so did the "Forgot your password" and click on the link from my E-Mail while I could enter a new password I just got an error saying "We're sorry, but something went wrong.  If you are the application owner check the logs for more information".

Also had to switch MC Browser from Chromium to IE (in Chromium you don't see the Dr Who web page at all).

Thanks
