UPNP (cue, out mode)
« on: July 01, 2017, 05:35:33 am »

Hello! I use JRiver Media Center 23 and MPD through the UPNP protocol!
In the server settings I choose Audiophile mode!
But if you select the "Specified Output Format" mode, Music on the thumb is output in 32 bit format!
If you select "Original" then it becomes correct, but CUEs stop working!

Use Specified Output Format = PCM No Header (L16)

01) For all formats
PCM L16 / L24 No Header
PCM 16 / 24 Bit
If set Mode: Original
CUE`s Dont work!  :o

02) If set Mode:  "Specified Output Format only If necessary"
CUE work, but
if format set PCM L16 or PCM 16, all track`s convert to 16bit

You probably have a lot of CUE files.  If you only have a few, you should convert them to single file per song FLACs instead.  CUE files are an old solution to a problem that does not exist in MC.  CUE files in MC can be tricky to deal with.  Especially with a network based renderer.  Single song files work better in general.

Though, if you are trying to get gapless playback of albums to work on a network renderer, that may not work at all, no matter what the format.  Others here know more about that subject than I do.  I've just seen reports that it does not work at all on some (many?) network devices.

If you can connect your renderer directly with Toslink, USB, coaxial digital, etc, that should work correctly for gapless playback.  ...and it should work correctly with CUE files also.

Brian.

norrest,
Could you please stop using all the formatting (bold, etc) of your text?  It makes it harder to read.

Thanks.

I checked on more than 10 albums! Where the setting is Original - CUE does not work anywhere! There where "Specified Output Format only If necessary" - everywhere works! It seems to me it is the BUG of the program itself. Who can I contact to create a issue on a bug tracker?
THANK YOU!

Posting on the forum is how you notify the developers and you have done that.

Taking a step back though, it looks like you have the entire album ripped to a single file and are trying to manage the individual tracks using CUE files. I suspect that is a pretty fringe use case that may never be fully supported. MC really works best with separate files for each track.

Hope you will consider my wishes in the new versions of the player!
I wanted to ask! What DSPs work in the output of the upsampling in DSD via the UPNP mode? Thank you!
