I can't remember seeing this thread before CountryBumkin, so sorry for the late response.
I like to keep control of the images I link to directly, so I know they will be there in future. Most "free" sites like Photobucket (which I used to use), imgur, flickr, etc. can change their policy at any time, and once again your images are lost. Fine for short term image display, but not so good when the images are supporting instructions like yours. Plus who keeps track of where all your image go?
Actually, I prefer these days to have the forum I am supporting host the files, since it is to their benefit. So I use JRiver on this forum.
But it is easy, at least at the moment, to hot link to OneDrive images. Just use the "embed" link above the image, and do not select "Include HTML tags", then post that link inside an image code block: [im
