I didn't find a solution for this:
in multitracks albums the playback stops after every single track and I have to start the next track manually.
I tried to solve the problem in options but couldn't find a solution.

There is an option that controls this, but it's HARD to find!  I think I'm pretty good at MC's settings and features, but I couldn't find it.   I had to do a web search.

<drum roll please>  Our mystery feature is located at....

Player > Repeat > Stop after each item

Make sure that's NOT checked.

Alternatively, check Playing Now and make sure that you see more than one song there.  There are ways of adding songs to Playing Now that only do it one at a time, which might also produce the behavior you are reporting.

Dear Brian,

I checked all that and as I see it's set in a way that should make MC work in a normal way.
The "mystery feature" Player > Repeat > Stop after each item is and was unchecked.
BUT
in Playing Now (I never used that before) I can only see the track that is playing at the moment. I never played from this list or used it. I always use the main library, am looking for the album I want to play, double-click the track I want to listen to and the rest of the album plays in the order in which it is sorted. But for some days now I only can play each track individually and -as I see now - only the just playing song shows up in the overview and playing now row. Only if I click the play button under the album image the whole album is showing up and playing.
I am for many years now a user of MediaCenter but never had this problem (newest MC and MacOS versions). I attached some pictures that - hopefully - will make things clearer.

In addition the keyboard buttons for playback and skip don't work anymore with MediaCenter. The same happens with the MagicMouse actions.
Quit or hide actions work with the keyboard. Permissions are correctly set.

Still the same behavior: MC still stops after each title. The only solution I see is to add an album to the playing now list.
But that's not normal, isn't it?
I deleted MC, installed it new, restored the library from the backup - always the same.
I never had that before.

I believe what you are reporting is controlled by this setting:

Tools > Options > General > Behavior > Double click

I *think* the default setting for that is "Replace playing now (all)" .  Try that and see if it does what you want.  If not, try some other settings there.

Playing Now is a VERY important part of MC.  Playing Now is where all playback happens.  Whether you are looking at it or not, Playing Now controls the order of playback and whether or not songs from an album are queued up.  Learning more about Playing Now and how to use it might be of use to you.  On the other hand if your use is very simple and you aren't interested in playback order or anything, it might not be useful.  Just giving you some extra info.
