JRiver Version 22 library had duplicate albums. 
In JRemote this would show as
   Album
       Song 1
       Song 1
       Song 2
       Song 2
etc

Using JRiver Library Tools I copied the files elsewhere and then deleted their library entries (not the files).  JRiver no longer shows the copied and moved files

But JRemote still shows the files (with their new location).  Moved files won't play.

What's going on and what to do please?

Try restarting MC and JRemote.

Have tried this.  Will try rebooting pc next.

No other suggestions from anyone?

Rebooted pc and all is good.  In retrospect I load the server for JRiver at boot time. I presume I did not “kill it” when I reloaded the JRiver version with user interface that I was working on. 

Would this explain the issue I had?
