Ask for DSD512
« on: January 24, 2019, 04:10:41 am »

Hello, i want to ask a question.
When i connect my computer to my new Estoeric K03xs, When i choose 8XDSD in native format, there is time lapped during the song, even i choose 3000ms at buffering.
What's wrong with it?

Thanks all

What kind of computer are you running MC on? My guess would be your computer is too slow at handling PCM to DSD conversions on-the-fly.

You can try running the benchmark (Help menu > Benchmark...) and post the results here.

That device handles native 8xDSD without conversion to PCM.

Can you confirm whether Audio Path is reporting that 22.5 MHz DSD is being sent to the USB port?

Native 8xDSD without any conversions shouldn't be an issue when bitstreaming, sure. The way it was worded above suggested to me DSP Studio > Output Format > Output Encoding is set to 8xDSD in native format which also suggests to me everything is being converted to 8xDSD, which is causing a bottleneck issue of sorts due to on-the-fly DSD conversions being one of if not the most resource intensive task MC can do.

I have i3-6100 JRMark ~ 4000. My DAC is only capable to do DSD 64 through DOP. Converting all audio formats on the fly to DSD 64 works - CPU Utilization ~10% (Load full file into memory).

Agreed, the CPU could be an issue if converting PCM to DSD.  Playing DSD files, it should not be an issue.

I can see on-the-fly conversions to DSD64 doable on most systems. Doing on-the-fly conversions to 8xDSD (or DSD512) on the other hand which is 8 times DSD64, especially multichannel, I can see being too intensive for most PCs/CPUs to handle, except maybe high end CPUs with higher clock speeds.
