Just come back to MC and seen that TV is now in the early stages of development for Macs.  I've downloaded and installed v80 and tried to configure it.  The tuner is a HD HomeRun Connect model HDHR4-2DT, which I believe is a DLNA capable device. So I should be set to go. Nope.

The device doesn't seem to be found in the device dropdown on the third page of config wizard and so I'm stuck.

Is the HomeRun being incompatible or me being daft?

Sorry, HDHomeRun Connect is not among supported devices.  Currently the only supported device is HDHomeRun Prime, for USA digital cable services.

Do you know if the device can stream a TV channel using an URL?  For example, with HDHomeRun Prime, I can stream video in MC using this URL:

http://192.168.xxx.xxx:5004/auto/v11

where 192.168... is the device's IP address on your local network, and v11 stands for channel 11.

On the other hand, this one

http://192.168.yyy.yyy:5004/auto/v11.1

for my HDHomeRun Extend (which is similar to Connect) does not work in MC.

By the way, we are investigating why the URL from the Connect or the Extend can not be played in MC.  Hopefully we will figure it out soon.

I tried this one http://192.168.y.z:5004/auto/v101 and it tries to play, a progress bar appears briefly and then I get a black screen.

With .1 at the end then just a white screen.

So as you expected.  Anything else you'd like me to try?

Hi Paul, do you see the device show up as a Digital Media Server (DMS) DLNA library under "Playing from" in the MC tree?
If so you should now be able to load that library which will contain the URL's for the channels and clicking on any of them there should play live.
It's a good test if you works with your particular device.

There was a problem retrieving files from the selected server. Please ensure that the server you are connecting to supports search and that is running properly.

The tuner is working as I can see TV in the silicon dust app.

Check with Silicondust (setup or online instructions) to make sure the server is running.

You may have seen that Yaobing said above that your device isn't supported.

That's interesting, that's the behavior I saw before I ran version 26.0.80 which has the added code to pull the channel layout from the DMS.
Doesn't make a lot of sense but it's possible that the connect has a different DLNA layout for the channel list from the extend I'm using.
Do you have access to a Windows PC? There is a piece of software there that would be useful in helping to debug this.

Load the latest version 26.0.82.  Sorry to say no change, the TV setup tuner select drop down is unpopulated.

I can see and load the HDHomeRun tuner as a new DLNA library. Media Centre reports it as being loaded with 129 files & 152Kb in size but with 0Kb in thumbnails. I can export the library as an xml file which seems to my uneducated eye to indicate that its found the TV channels but just can't play them, copy attached.

When I type the channel's url in a browser window, its tries to play and fails with a black screen.  The system status log from the tuner reports this as I tried to do it twice:

I don't think they are hooked up in the TV section yet, Yaobing is still working on that.
The channels should however show up under Video when you load the library and you should be able to click on and watch them.
This works for me on my Mac with a HDHomeRun extend.

I am still working on integrating HDHR Connect/Extend into TV guide.  Since yours is a Connect, you can try the following:

As Bob suggested, right-click the device under Playing Now and choose Load.  That will load the channels into the device's own library, in Video.  You should be able to play the channels.  You should notice the filename of these channels are URLs, possibly like the one you tried  http://192.168.y.z:5004/auto/v101, but maybe different (if you are in the USA, the Connect should be for ATSC tuning, and the ending part of the URL should be something like v11.1, or v5.1, etc., i.e. in ATSC channel format).

Try one of those correctly formatted URLs in Main Library, with File > Open URL..., you should be able to play it.
