Gentlemen:  Since installing version 80 two recent movies on NetFlix dvd's would not run.  So I uninstalled and reinstalled program in case my
program files were corroded.  I won't have new NetFlix dvd's until May 26th or May 27th.  Has anyone else reported this problem.  I hope the
reinstall cured the problem.  I will post results.

I checked my device manager.  My dvd player is working fine.  But, 26.0.80 is not playing standard prerecorded DVD's.
I just ran a dvd, it cycled from a blank screen to play button.  something may be fishy about this version of Media Center
at 0.80!  Please respond.

I know that my cd/dvd drive E is working.  But version 26.0.80 is not playing prerecorded DVD's.
what gives.

More details ... like is your DVD is commercial disc movie ... those have copy protection than MC cannot remove .. need third party tools like AnyDVD or DVDFab or makemkv

They r regular North American Region NetFlix DVD rentals that r meant for their customers.
I've never had problems with them before.

Commercial DVDs (like the ones you rent from Netflix) have copy protection that JRiver Media Center can't remove thus it can't play back discs with the copy protection (which is most of them). However, JRiver Media Center can play discs that have been decrypted via software.

To get them to play in JRiver Media Center you need software to decrypt them like AnyDVD or MakeMKV.

Actually DVDs should work without any external software, since we use the Microsoft decryptor. And I just tested two discs and it does run fine without AnyDVD installed.

Can you make a log file when trying to play such a disc?

DVD rentals have traditionally used a different encryption than what is found on purchased commercial DVDs.  They do this to prevent cheap rentals becoming copied to keep for life.

But if they play on Windows Media, I see no reason why they should not play on MC. Or?
